Pensioner Lobby

Very busy day in Parliament yesterday - I joined the National Pensioners Convention lobby in the afternoon. There is major concern over stats that 1:6 elderly below the poverty line, 6 million pensioners have income less than £11,500 a year, UK pension among the worst in developed world rank 32nd out of 34 OECD countries. Since 2010 social care budget cut.  Yet pensioners will still contribute to the volunteer sector out of their deep concern for society and its needs... therefore not a financial burden as government might suggest.
My thoughts of course we are all still tax payers as everyone in this land with VAT on goods bought with whatever little funds we have.  I am actually filling up with tears as I write this as this is NOT the country I want my motherland to be. It is perverse to treat the elderly and vulnerable in society like this government is doing. It shameful after all the hard work and contributions citizens have made over the years. It was interesting to note that government MPs declined to attend the meeting. The parliament electrified too with major challenges to the Universal Credit and the exposure of the poverty and social pain folk are in. But I am shocked and appalled at the way government is treating our miners with pension scams... disgusting. More and more it begs questions that where is our money actually going? Can we please see the accounts for the UK we need transparency and clarity of account sheets to know what the heck is happening in this fair land of ours??!!
