Weyakapa Najin Win - Woman Stands Shining
Today dipped into the Trauma Skills Summit today Register here and so glad I listened in to Pat McCabe and her exploration of A Traumatized Species: Pathology or Healing Crisis. Pat is from the Navajo culture and is a woman of wisdom as I listened to her. I have always felt drawn to the American Indians and their beautiful way of listening to Mother Earth and the Divine Spirit. Her presentation is one I feel we all need to listen too as we all try to handle this crazy year with Pandemic lockdown. But as Pat highlights was "Queen Corona" a way of getting us all to listen and see what we have been doing to our planet. We all saw that when we were in lockdown how nature and mother Earth began to heal from all the damage our way of life has caused.
I am sure you all like me in this year have found that tears have been flowing. Times when you are feeling confused, feeling frustrated, feeling out of control by it all, feeling loneliness away from loved ones and some lost loved ones in this challenging time. So I felt touched with what Pat said that she too had tears flowing, tears coming from deep in the soul... She talked of catching those tears in tissues and to give back to the Earth in a ceremony of gratitude and guidance. That we must know that it is alright to cry as this is in alignment with all that is going on around us.
She spoke of how in her native ways healing comes from recognising the root of pain and disease with this healing the root not healing symptoms.
I am touched with the clear point and what makes me a biologist first and foremost that then went on to be a clinician. That Mother Earth is always giving life no matter how crazy we are with the planet.. She is a tough mama and will always show her authority and show how she gives and supports life in abundance.
Pat then guided us through a very beautiful meditation where we were taken along a path through a meadow to a mountain where we were led to a waterfall and a spirit guide.. The waterfall full of light and glistening rainbow colours.. this is where you take your own journey for what is needed for you.
My journey saw the water leading to a river and out to the sea... The entry into the water was peaceful.... I actually had to lay and sleep when I finished this presentation with meditation and just simply BE drifting alone but not alone visiting all the family my loved ones....
This wise woman's presentation covered these points:-
How indigenous peoples' paradigms express humanity in ways that are radically different from the modern world's paradigm
The modern paradigm as only one choice among many possibilities
Our innate design for a thriving life - and how this is inhibited by the modern day paradigm
Meeting the Woman of the Rainbow Waterfall - practice of receiving unconditional love and healing.
Here is this link to Pat's website Woman Stands Shining and please visit the link to a very beautiful talk on Speaking to the Water she makes a valid point that our water on Mother Earth is the same water that supported our ancestors as it is cyclic. There is a beautiful prayer ritual that the Navajo Dine do standing in the water of a lake and with a drum beat out prayers for us all and the planet.. knowing that the vibration of that prayer evaporates with the surface water is carried in the air forms clouds and rains elsewhere on the planet .. it is form of Divine connection.
