Happy to Chat Brunel

Good meeting on campus today Brunel University...had to meet with Layla a psychology student that is working on the Happy to Chat project .. We had a questionnaire and recorded interview to do as I participate in the project..

Also called in the Brunel Volunteers and spoke with Marsha, the manager ...to see if the students had a project to help our elderly with odd jobs or planning to set up a reach out project to our community. Marsha could not believe I had asked this as only 2 days ago had had a meeting with our local Age UK ...there are some discussions on the go... so will keep me updated. Good well timed  by chance link up.

The campus was busy with a summer school for international students studying English .....oh would love to have been involved with this ...I got chatting to an Italian student here for the summer school and we talked about our regional dialects ... I am so happy round students miss mentoring in clinical practice and enjoy classroom directive learning as a teacher .. I am best when permitted my freedom to let sessions develop and then we have group discussions feedback to reinforce learning. That reinforcement with paths, action plans and references to follow to augment understanding of the subject  under discussion. Though it is important to keep a focus to a teaching plan.. I love to see people develop in knowledge and skills ..

Today my meeting with Layla helped me get to know her ambitions... we discussed how a psychology degree does have a job market value.. Clinical therapeutic is first thought we all think of.... but HR in companies need psychological input to counsel staff, ensure mental wellbeing and action plan support in high stress workplaces. Happy staff are more creative and productive. The commercial advertising arena uses psychology to influence customers! There is also forensics criminal psychology too. So some of the areas to develop a career in. .
We also discussed how society needs healing as there are some noticeable fractures. We need compassion to hold a society together and with this empathy and respect ..self respect and respect for others. I made Layla aware of the Compassion in Politics group that she can join in parliamentary meetings and zoom.  Compassion in Politics
So a stimulating day... 💞 below more photos from my time on campus.
