Echoes of Silk Brunel Uni concert

πŸŽΌπŸπŸ‚ what an amazing way to welcome November.. Enjoyed the Brunel Uni Friday Lunchtime concert with Cheng Yu. The instruments fascinating the Guqin zither with 7 strings an instrument with a history of 2000 years. The strings originally made of intertwined threads if silk and the instrument made out of Rose wood. The other instrument the fretted lute Pipa closely related to the European lute ..it came to China through the Silk Road 4 -5th century. ... I have never been to China but Cheug Yu took us all there with her music. Each piece played drew us into a story from Moon
over Ganeshan pass to flowing water to white snow in sunny spring. But the opening piece of Moon over Ganeshan Pass played on the zither brought tears to my eyes. The music told of the sadness, the fear of men forced to leave families to go to battlegrounds .. not wishing to leave their loved ones and whether they see one another again .....here we are in 2024 with same fears!
The Dragon boat piece played on the lute was good .. apparently a long term tradition of a boating race in China and music played to cheer teams on to win ... πŸ’— loved time with others that stayed behind to learn more about the instruments & get up close to see the craftsmanship of them ..you could feel the love energy in their dedication to design. πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘   Cheng Yu Instagram

Brazil in Brunel University

πŸ₯πŸŽΆSo what have you been doing today Marjorie.? ....well I have been drumming with Brazilian delegates at Brunel University ..as one does πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚you cannot attend a presentation on Global Climate and University link up between Brazil and Brunel without connecting our energies through the beat of drums, tambourines and cowbells ..The Rio de Janeiro effect .. . I love it what a way to start meetings &  United Nations meetings too... we are all connected and United in we share one planet home ..Earth ... our Earth needs our unity to prevent more climate damage, find ways to adapt infrastructures to cope with extreme weathers... We need to fast track youth into universities that show  amazing insight to problem solve climate issues, have an affinity for sciences, engineering and ecosystems.. they need our universities to pilot ideas, research & refine ideas with the mentorship of our academics and I would say experts from indigenous wisdom to construction to farming to health care - all to develop workable models for healing our planet home. Importantly for our planet to be able to maintain its life support. But there is a very big but... we need warmongers to stop their tantrum sledgehammering behaviour..we cannot afford this  every missile launch is an attack on us all as this malbehaviour affects our planet home we all share.  It all contributes to more flooding more wildfires, earthquakes... And as one of our students reminded us... our air travel is already impacted with increased turbulence from a warming planet! The health impact is already being seen by doctors in areas of extreme weather damage. Of course climate migration is a consequence of extreme weathers destroying farmland and infrastructures..  so today was very important...there was a point put forward that much published work can go unrecognised if in another language ..such as Portuguese, the language of Brazil but i pointed out how among our refugee children we have little Professors of Linguistics..as they use all languages exposed to and so developing as polyglots. We are cultivating a generation of polyglots. AS i write this I need to put forward we have refugees that are able to translate academic publications can work remotely such as  Jusoor   and  Talent Beyond Boundaries of course we have AI and translation packages.. However from my experience of translating Arabic to English I have learnt you cannot simply do a direct translation ...you need to adapt to English .. once you have grasped the subject and concept of what is being shared.. However when I read German, Nederlandse & French clinical  publications I can grasp the gist even if not fully fluent in the language ... of course my clinical background helps ..but the translation needs to be exacting to be safe. I love going on campus and always stimulating, love listening to the lectures and our amazing students ... great to share together ... We are lucky to  have Brunel University in our London Borough of Hillingdon.

Echocardiogram

This morning had 8am appointment at Harefield Hospital for an Echocardiogram and blood studies all part of my care plan for Sleep Apnoeas. The long term effect of sleep apnoeas can lead to heart failure, hypertension and stroke. Given I have been showing signs linked to heart failure... Breathlessness on exertion, abdominal bloating, ankle oedema (swelling), fatigue, high blood pressure then my team wanted to assess my heart function. The staff today so lovely felt at ease and in very good healing caring hands. Mind you hospitals have been my career pathway as a Nurse & Midwife.. so strange being in patients gown not scrubs..

The echocardiogram was fascinating ..to see my heart the flow of oxygenated blood in graphics red the deoxygenated blood flow in graphics blue.. we tend to do a colour code like this for biological differentiation. In reality oxygenated blood is brighter red than darker deoxgenated blood. Remember your biology red cells haemoglobin carry freshly oxygenated blood from our lungs to send oxygen via our arteries round to all our cells for metabolism. Haemoglobin then carries carbon dioxide by product of metabolic process to lungs via venous system to be exhaled. In brief lol Though there is more complex dynamics going on.

So my heart pumping action looked at ...left ventricle fill and squeeze for oxygenated blood and right side for deoxgenated flow to lungs. My aorta main artery and vena cava main vein assessed. After to say I was in complete relax Mindfulness while this happening in good hands.

The hospital was calm and quiet early on this Saturday morning. I arrived mega early taking first U7 bus to Uxbridge then U9 bus that goes directly into the hospital. Scroll down to read something extra happened to me ...***

Zoom in on the Hare Art you will notice many objects
Clever artwork by a patient.
***Something happened post my examination and blood taking. While I was having coffee in the canteen an audio message came in to me from my Palestinian MSF nurse in Gaza.. the sound of gunfiring around him. I do wish we could save my nurse, his wife and baby daughter from all the horrors.. it seems crazy sat in quiet specialist hospital short of specialist nurses and my nurse with all the specialist experience in cardiology, oncology and trauma could be a very very valuable team member. Yet we could lose him in the attacks on Gaza!  He has taken his career to MSc level and competent in lecturing and conference presentation. Published in the European Journal of Oncology Nursing. A born nurse ... his wife a maths teacher and his daughter needs her life before her with a future to show her talent and place in our world. Not lost to the world. How crazy a situation to be in a place here in West London where life saved to be listening to life being destroyed by leaders that fail to Mature in the Wisdom of Peace and togetherness.

The Earth our home we share needs a unified caring compassion understanding heartbeat from we humans. Vital signs are showing a need to resuscitate, refresh, reform, regroup and care for our only life support Planet Earth. For that we need Global peace.πŸ•ŠπŸŒ

Then while waiting for the bus had a video call from my Family Link Up   Syrian Princesses in Belgium who were fascinated by my echocardiogram. Already at their Belgium school they have been taught the beauty of the heart its myogenic muscle that can set up its own pacemaker wave of electrical conductivity to contract and thus pump the heart.  Even my Syrian Princesses could tell me about the P QRS T waves on an ECG .. so excellent teachers in their Belgium school.. note my Princesses little Professors of Linguistics can explain this in Nederlandse English and Arabic ..!!

πŸ’žπŸ‰πŸ•ŠπŸ€²πŸ™despite low energy managed to get into London yesterday to meet up with two Health Visitor peace activist friends from Leicester... Elizabeth line changed at Paddington bakerloo surfaced at Trafalgar square where march of 1000s people passing ..  Connected with my friends by the women in war Memorial Whitehall and then managed to get close to the speakers platform... had time with the Palestinian Ambassador to update on Mo'men Eid and family. Had received a message this morning was a ground offensive attacking around them.  Had time with Humza former SNP Scottish First Minister was able to tell him all the work my nurse done with Dr Philippa Whitford Breast Cancer surgeon on improving breast cancer care  pathway in Gaza ... before all this horror show!  Good to share time with our Jewish peace activists bloc.. time of caring and sharing together.

Learn more about my Nuse Mo'men and his oncology nursing

Also did a piece to camera Iran TV news ...message how we need Shalom Salem Peace Om Shanti as our Earth cries out for care. We need Leaders Mature in the Wisdom of Peace ..as each missile launched from wherever is an attack on us all .. it adds to climate crisis and we will see more earthquakes, more wild fires and flooding..time for no more wars ..

Visions a must to watch

Loving my new TV that my daughters got me. I can escape the reality horrors of today's news and lose myself in fictional drama. I have found the Walter Presents international dramas so boosting up my languages. Visions is a well crafted storyline and excellent screen production.. the actors powerful in performance..
