Christmas 2023 Important Meet up

 

Been waiting to load this page to share a brilliant meet up over Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024. Juliya my Ukraine friends' father was over for leave from the front line. A Major in the Ukraine army on the frontline of defending their country.  We have only just met over videocalls, so this was amazing to be part of the family reunion. So lovely to see him enjoying time with his grandchildren, daughter, son in law and wife.  We had fun with the translator app as my voice turned into Ukrainian script there are still times my Yorkshire accent not understood by the app. 

Ideally I wished Col. Hamish de Bretton-Gordon could have met up with Sergei. I had made him aware of Sergei being in UK but Hamish was not able to meet till a date after the end of Sergei's leave.  I gave a copy of the Chemical Warrior book, be it written in English for Juliya to translate key extracts.  I know Hamish from my time in Parliament at the APPG Friends of Syria meetings where I was a voice for my Syrian refugees in Turkey.  
I also had hoped for officer to officer meet up from our local airbase but being Christmas it was not possible to get in touch with the commander! I also contacted the 3 MPs of the London Borough of Hillingdon John McDonnell, David Simmonds and the newly elected Steve Tuckwell.  Steve is the MP for the constituency where Juliya and the family live and he did ring Juliya but not arrange a meeting. One of our local councillors Barry Nelson-West has been giving support so was able to spend time with Sergei. 
While Sergei was in the UK he had appointments with the BBC for interviews. So went along with Juliya to the BBC in central London. The link to the un-translated interview is below. I decided with the help of Sumi in the Raz pics Uxbridge to put the photos of the BBC trip in a frame for Juliya and Sergei's wife to keep. This was well liked by all. Sergei is grateful to his family being safe. But we need to listen to those on the frontline as the situation is getting more and more difficult.

My thoughts: why oh why can the deluded power ego "leaders" in the world not mature in the Wisdom of Peace and togetherness. There is so much chaos in the world with a myriad of conflict zones. We need leaders not to lead citizens into wars but come together as we have a collective battle on our hands to undo the damage we have foolishly made on our one planet home we share.  
Note we share this planet Earth each and every global citizen and all life from fauna and flora. It is our life support system and we are not respecting it. Instead deluded greed and land grab and delusion of power over others is creating more and more problems that could lead to our eventual self destruction. Homo Stupidus need so evolve into truly Homo Sapiens - Wise beings and realise the greatest power is Peace and togetherness not all this war and pain.

Better for families to be together in peace enjoying life on this amazing planet with all its wonders. When I hear refugee children picking up on all the different languages they are exposed to, it gives me hope that maybe just maybe our next generation will truly become United Nations understanding one another and knowing we are really a Global Family on this one planet home we share.
