Raindrops enhance the beauty

Had a quiet day in today and we had rain so just been out to check my flowers in the garden. Love how the raindrops enhance the beauty of blooms and leaves. Evening light also captured the shine on the leaves... I tried my camera but this clarity not as good as the camera on the tablet... so my tablet wins tonight on photography.

SCAM ALERT - need to protect the elderly

SCAM ALERT
It is with heavy heart that I am having to share this with you all..
SCAM ALERT
But we have had an incident in the Heatwave of some male leaflet distributors in the neighbourhood that have preyed on an elderly widow in her 80yrs.... they asked her for a cold drink and gained her trust for her to allow one in the house then he has sexually molested her.... It is a police case and the local councillor has filed a report to social services.....We are gathering information and need to reinforce with the elderly that some characters can prey on their vulnerability.. it is a very sad case as she reacted out of compassion in the heatwave but really there is no one needing to go thirsty as we have shops and drinks nearby.....!
It has been an alarming case that I got involved with as she opened up to the incident with me in a general conversation.

I had called on her to check she was OK after my swim the other day as I passed her house... always keeping a look out for her......

Please reinforce with elderly relatives to not let anyone in without legitimate ID.

This case has upset me as she could have been murdered and for this we have to investigate to find the perpetrator....... and there is a need for family and social services review as to possible rehousing as the lady is lonely and wanders in the street to talk with people so is open to abuse.... so so sad and worrying as to how the elderly can be used abused and mistreated in this society where even the government have been suggesting we live too long and a drain on resources.... when in fact we all pay taxes to the system that is supposed to care for us and protect us.... and we should have a society that cares and respects the elderly.

Please be on the alert... but in this we must all not lose our compassion too!

Swim bliss in the heat

On Friday was so so blissful to go for a swim in our local pool.... it has been soo hot in the heatwave that I had craved for this.... but on the Thursday it had been too hot to move.... Friday I had an appointment in the Civic Centre to thought darn it going to pack my new swimsuit and go for swim after the meeting.  Utter bliss and floating on the water looking at the clouds made feel so relaxed I nearly fell asleep..lol I am thinking it will be good to get back into swimming to help my knees.... and I would like to teach Leen and Celine from my family link up project too so the next time I visit them in Belgium we should plan to visit a pool for some confidence building lessons...

House Plant article + translate

Been working on some Dutch for my Family Link Up  love the Libelle magazine such interesting articles and enjoy cracking open the language to reveal the information and stories. Interesting article on indoor plants and how they help clean the air for us... The ecosystem is so important to keep balance in our immediate world at home but for the whole world... Seems strange that we all study biology at school yet we have many that do not see and feel the importance of nature and its benefits for us all.

Sarah Beattie Plum tart....

Sarah Beattie
The plums are dropping off the trees - do some quick Sunday baking. This is a version of a Galician Torta de Santiago which is traditionally gluten-free

4 eggs
175g sugar
zest 1 orange
200g ground hazelnuts
1tsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
5 plums, stoned and cut into eighths
2 tbs icing sugar

Fill your mixer bowl with boiling water and leave to warm.

Preheat the oven to 180˚C / Gas Mk 4. Line a 20cm cake tin with non-stick paper.

Empty out the water, quickly dry the bowl and add the eggs, sugar and orange zest. Whisk on high speed until the mixture is very pale and thick.

Sift over the hazelnuts, baking powder and 1 tsp cinnamon, tipping in any residue left in the sieve. Gently fold through the mixture. Scrape half the mixture into the prepared tin. Top with the plum eighths, reserving a few for decoration. Cover with the rest of the mixture.

Bake for 30 – 35 minutes until risen and browned – although risen, the cake will have a concave (sunken) shape. Cool in the tin. Remove and dust with the icing sugar mixed with the remaining cinnamon. Top with the saved plum pieces and serve.

Blue Badge campaign goes on

More on helping to keep the spotlight on #FreeNazanin.  I lost some days out and about last week to that summer cold that was going round.. it floored me for 3 days but one of my friends called to see me and she selfied with me to say to Richard to keep strong.
Of course we had a week of no contact as Nazanin was taken to a Psychiatric hospital in shackles.... so worrying for us all... But now she is released back to the jail so there are phone calls again. I have been out and about again from joining protesters in Whitehall to going to my physio appointment for my arthritic knees... it gets folk talking of Nazanin. So still good Blue badge power.  Now we have a big challenge as the PM is the very person in his role as Foreign secretary that made a blunder with incorrect outburst in a committee meeting. This seriously affected the jail sentence for Nazanin.  We also need to see who is placed as the new Foreign Secretary - this is an issue as there is no consistency of post holder and the focus on this case amidst all other international issues.

Blue Badge Campaign for Nazanin

I am so touched by this horrid situation of Nazanin locked in an Iranian prison taken from her daughter and her husband. That I cannot rest till we find a solution to get her free. The time meeting Richard and with him outside the Iranian Embassy made me feel very connected to the pain they are in... So I am turning their pain into campaign....now we have the added development of her being taken to a psychiatric hospital in Tehran.  The blue badges the supporters made for us outside the Embassy are having an amazing effect as I wear one were ever I go.  So over the past week been wearing to meetings in Hayes and Uxbridge when out shopping.. and to our local shops too... There is such an outpouring of love for Richard Nazanin and Gabriella.... from all our community all cultures and religions... Seems many been following the story with pain too and feeling helpless to help ... but we must continue to sign the petition, lobby MPs MEPs and UN to see how we can get her free.  I am appealing to the Iranians to unlock their hearts to MERCY and COMPASSION the foundation our religion and all world religions.... Mothers are respected so much in Islam that the Prophet pbh said to love mother 3xs more than father for she Carried you, Birthed you and Nurtured you.... and really all men should remember with honoured respect that they lived 9 months in a woman's womb without which there would be no life at all. The whole situation shows how we fail to live the message and apply in all aspects of our lives.. politics should be based on love and care for citizens.
So here are a selection of my photos on the road over this week. Here is the petition for you to sign.  Those on Twitter follow #FreeNazanin. Also see the very moving talk to Richard by John Bercow The Speaker of the House of Commons and the full proceedings yesterday in response to Tulip Siddiq MP URGENT QUESTION ON NAZANIN Hansard record of yesterday Parliament Urgent question on Nazanin

Art in the Spa generates idea....

The art on the wall of the Imagine Spa Hilton made me think of Boshra Family Link Up Wow! would be amazing to get her a commission for her artwork to embellish hotels and spas..... Something we must think of and maybe could do for a project when she starts her art classes in September.

Below is some of Boshra's recent artwork

Cleopatra Bliss at the Hilton - Imagine Spa

Absolutely brilliant Spa evening yesterday at the Imagine Spa Heathrow Hilton T5 with Debbie my daughter.  We were both ready for some Cleopatra bliss after having lots of recent challenges in life.. It really does you good to have some time where you are pampered and cared for.
We were certainly pampered and cared for... What an amazing place with lovely very skilful caring therapists.

We had time in the spa which my arthritic knees really appreciated... they felt so much easier after.  Our Debbie and me had a laugh... when she was stood in the water jets her swimsuit bellowed out with trapped air as if her boobs gradually inflating.... so funny.
The steam room did me good too and helped my breathing which as never been right since last years pneumonia! Gee it is so important to have these Cleopatra Pamper Well-being times.. So lovely to be cared for and in luxury setting too.

Loved the seductive curtain area in the chill out room before & after the treatments. It reminded me of the Red Tent in the old Bedouin tribes, where women would be together at their feminine times of the month and for childbirth, so they could help one another with massage and support. I nearly fell asleep under a cosy warm blanket after the spa!
We had a therapist consultation and was guided through the treatments on offer bespoke to our needs and choice.  I had the Raindrop Warm oil massage for my back and legs with a scalp massage too...

Ohhhhhh was that so wonderful... just what my ageing body needed.... all my muscles and joints felt soooo loved...

lol any therapist will know how good they are at their technique when I go quiet... as I float off into another dimension..... blissful....

We were in twin treatment rooms and our Debbie opted for a facial with scalp massage... she was definitely relaxed I could her some snoring!  bless her!  so so glad I could treat her to this as she works hard and around her kidney treatment and hospital appointments...Plus helps fundraising for Kidney Research UK.

We were both spaced out with this wonderful spa evening and glad we picked up on the Groupon offer... Now we have experienced this oasis of bliss we will be going again...as it is so needed to keep mind, body and spirit in balance. We had a nice hot drink before driving home and the waiters were so kind to us too...

Look at our Debbie a glow... She text me this morning to say she had a really good sleep last night and feels wonderful..

Thank you Imagine Spa.
