Plant jewels for the shade

Love picking up magazines in French & also Dutch on my trips back & forth to Brussels on the Eurostar.

๐ŸŒฟ☘๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒฑthis article on plants in the shade is interesting.. something to remember some plants prefer and have adapted their leaves to still photosynthesis in minimal light source. Delicate leafed plants have found protection in woodland areas protected by trees from winds & cold. We have seen in the recent intense sunshine our flowers and leaves not coping shrivelling and drying out ...so perfect balance of light and shade is needed.

Loving the triangle leaves of the La pericaire 'purple fantasy' the gold and purple extenuating the shape..

...mais rampant et couvrant รฉtroitement le sol comme de la mousse...  some plants form a densely packed ground cover like moss.

So yes there are petits bijoux de l'ombre...

I have found a link for our biology students to compare plants in sun and shade Biology Field studies plants light & shade

Compass fun

๐ŸŒ๐Ÿก interesting coffee morning finding out where I am hhhh reviewing compass navigation. Why? you wonder! preparing something fun for my two Princesses...

Remembering this with my granddaughters too ... We would have fun with me standing with my arms out to the side .. my head North, my Feet South, then which arm is West and which is East we noticed that the direction of west and the direction of east..spells WE .. to remember which way..

.there are fun mnemonics (crazy spelling mnemonics silent m ๐Ÿค”) to remember the directions starting North then going clockwise round

Whitehall Gardens & Queen's Corgis

On Tuesday evening I was at a meeting near the embankment so decided after to have a walk in Whitehall Gardens .. Was a lovely atmosphere with chatting to park attendant and tourists .. The water sprays a welcome relief for gardens in the  heat and for the passerbys lol  I spotted a Queen's Jubilee Corgi.. fun there are corgis around London Jubilee Corgi Trail

Here catching up

First a close up on beauty.
No blog posts in majority of July as was ill with this mean critter covid.. even with my vaccinations.  It started with Tonsillitis then full on flu ... on testing was positive. Also had gum inflammation... .. my family got me groceries fluids and a fan..with the grace of Allah God I am well   survivor...& negative..

The heat wave was tricky too felt scary.. some felt it wonderful but it was and is abnormal for the Northern hemisphere.   I have had time in India, Dubai & Morocco so coped with heat ..but our 40c and fires a real shift into extreme weather we need to prepare better!  review our infrastructures to cope but most of all respect and heal our one planet home.  We need to get warlords to stop their war tantrums trashing our global communities, destroying lives and infrastructure.

Lets remember the chart on what we need to prepare for as climate change impacts on health.
