The Little Mermaid Beck Theatre

Yesterday matinee.....A brilliant performance by our local talented youth. Some stood out that are very likely to have careers on stage too. Great to meet up with Caroline my friend whose daughter was performing in the show.  Alice was a maid to Ariel in the second part and one of the tentacle dancers of Ursula the evil octopus in the first part... The production was well done and I loved the theme theatre foyer too.

Beck Theatre - Mermaid to Ruby

hoping to get tickets for both these productions. One of my friends daughters is performing in The Little Mermaid.  I would also like to go to see Ruby Wax too...she is inspiring helping others through her journey with mental ill health issues The Frazzle Cafe is a support cafe for those in need. As someone that suffers PTSD as a survivor I really would like to hear her personal wisdom. She also is involved with the Compassion in Politics Coalition... Set up here in the UK but is spreading globally. We sure do need compassion for one another and our leaders and all politicians need to base their decisions on compassion for all citizens and this one planet home.

Birthday evening ..at the Orangery

I have no longer GrandChildren but GrandAdults now.  My eldest Gina was 26 years yesterday... she chose a brilliant restaurant on our doorstep at Stockley Park. The Golf club house now has a wonderful restaurant called The Orangery. We were booked in early evening 6pm so was lovely for me to arrive their earlier still to have a walk round Stockly Park lake in the sunshine. I had a soft cold drink in the Club bar and had lovely talk with the barmaid while waiting for my family to arrive. Wow the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a private function room. This room was being used for a pre wedding shower for a very pretty Pakistani bride to be... So lovely an atmosphere.  It was sentimental for my daughter Debbie and my son-in-law Daren as when they married the reception was at the Club house.
The food was absolutely spot on tasty curry dishes and the service felt so tailored to our needs. I strongly recommend this place. The ambience so special in both decor and vicinity.

we went back to Debbie's house for birthday cake. I am so pleased Gina liked the artwork I got her for her room.  It was from the Hillingdon Arts pop up shop in the Pavillions Uxbridge. It had a memory within it for me of the time when Gina and Olivia were little we had gone to Whipsnade Zoo.. Olivia was in to pink things and wanted to see the pink flamingos while Gina ran off to be eye ball to eye ball with one of the free roaming Wallabys hhhhh she came running back to us, all wide eyed and excited  saying oh oh a kangeroo hhhh That day at the zoo was so much fun.

Magical Read

This last week I have been sat quiet at every opportunity to read this concluding part to the series of the Seven Sisters and Pa Salt by Lucinda Riley Lucinda sadly passed away with cancer before completing Atlas - The Story of Pa Salt Her son Harry Whittaker has completed her work from her manuscript and notes. They had written children's stories together and he knew his mother's style of writing. This story of Pa Salt is a myriad of adventures, of intrigue, of suspence,  of love and an array of emotions that follows a very powerful timeline in history. The story takes you around the world and fixes you in the story of each area of the world, giving insights into the area, cultures and society. The reason Pa Salt is in an adventure within that area of the world and the link to the story of the Seven sisters, his daughters is masterfully crafted. The magical link to the stars,  the cluster of Atlas, Pleides and Seven Sisters is a beautiful key and anchor to the overall storyline of the series of books and this concluding part.  A real page turner of a book all 764 pages of well written story that draws you in as if there with the characters and scenes. So much so I am still feeling in the book after completing the read. I love it when authors are so masterful at drawing readers into the story. I need space before picking up another book to read when this happens from a capitvating read.

Happy to Chat Brunel

Good meeting on campus today Brunel University...had to meet with Layla a psychology student that is working on the Happy to Chat project .. We had a questionnaire and recorded interview to do as I participate in the project..

Also called in the Brunel Volunteers and spoke with Marsha, the manager ...to see if the students had a project to help our elderly with odd jobs or planning to set up a reach out project to our community. Marsha could not believe I had asked this as only 2 days ago had had a meeting with our local Age UK ...there are some discussions on the go... so will keep me updated. Good well timed  by chance link up.

The campus was busy with a summer school for international students studying English .....oh would love to have been involved with this ...I got chatting to an Italian student here for the summer school and we talked about our regional dialects ... I am so happy round students miss mentoring in clinical practice and enjoy classroom directive learning as a teacher .. I am best when permitted my freedom to let sessions develop and then we have group discussions feedback to reinforce learning. That reinforcement with paths, action plans and references to follow to augment understanding of the subject  under discussion. Though it is important to keep a focus to a teaching plan.. I love to see people develop in knowledge and skills ..

Today my meeting with Layla helped me get to know her ambitions... we discussed how a psychology degree does have a job market value.. Clinical therapeutic is first thought we all think of.... but HR in companies need psychological input to counsel staff, ensure mental wellbeing and action plan support in high stress workplaces. Happy staff are more creative and productive. The commercial advertising arena uses psychology to influence customers! There is also forensics criminal psychology too. So some of the areas to develop a career in. .
We also discussed how society needs healing as there are some noticeable fractures. We need compassion to hold a society together and with this empathy and respect ..self respect and respect for others. I made Layla aware of the Compassion in Politics group that she can join in parliamentary meetings and zoom.  Compassion in Politics
So a stimulating day... 💞 below more photos from my time on campus.

Yorkshire Day with a link to Ukraine

A Yorkshire Rose found by a Yorkshire lass in her garden ..mine..🤩 and the timing of this photo find linked me to Ukraine...Sarah  a dog walker walked by with a very pretty dog called Betsy ..Betsy gorgeous shades of browns, tan and a cream tail that was like a fountain cascading over her back .. so curious to see my flowers ..it only turns out Betsy is a rescue dog from the shelling in Ukraine.. the burns on her now healed with this luxurious fur back so soft and shiny. Sarah is a volunteer foster dog carer for Harefield Dog Trust and had first cared for Betsy over Christmas but bonded so she has now fully adopted her as her own pet... What an earth angel, Sarah is .. it is also ...was to be ...has her own dog had passed away in October last year.  Sarah doesn't know which part of Ukraine Betsy was rescued from but it is likely her owners passed in the shelling.. Betsy is good natured she let me stroke her but Sarah says she struggles with loud noises..bless her ..😥post trauma from war! So Sarah is getting a calming plan to help her in our times of fireworks...there are big challenges for Betsy with Diwali and Bonfire night New Year's Eve... sorry no photo of Betsy as was too engrossed with the story and didn't seem right at this time. But told Sarah she should write the story ...

🙏🤲 thank goodness for kind caring compassionate humans to buffer the dark side of others inflicting pain and destruction in war tantrums.. time man matured in the wisdom of peace..

I think Juliya would love to meet Sarah and brave beautiful Betsy .. 💛💙🌻
