Medact zoom reflection on COP26

Great review of Day of Action for COP26 by doctors from Medact this evening.. Read more about the work to achieve healthy world, healthy climate, greener NHS Medact loved the report that a version of the catchy Sea Shanty was sung along some of the marches. I need to find more on this.  Also like the idea Liverpool docs had of the Earth on a Stretcher in need of urgent attention.  There are plans to hand in a letter to Downing street it will be brilliant on that day for stretcher idea down Whitehall & singing shanty song.  There was also reference to teaming up with Stitches4survival

Castle Fine Art visit

Yesterday got drawn into the The Castle Fine Art Gallery such beautful artwork on display and for sale. Some crisp intriguing techniques.. like the mountain piece I loved the way the artist had used metallics to remind us of the mineral structure of rocks & mountains under the soft appealing snow covering.  Here are some captures but please check out Billy Connolly's Christmas Editions his work was just being arranged to display. As a nurse I had to marvel in his work given his present journey with Parkinson's. More example of how art can help healing be it mind & soul if body suffering. It is a wonderful way to express and reconnect with self. Just as with Bushra on her healing journey & reconnecting with self from war trauma.  Bushra's Art page Family Link Up

Love this sculpture it is representing Father & Son touch
On closer look you can see older hand touching younger hand.

Magic carpets in Windsor

Transported to another land in Windsor Daniels store  This corner of wonder full of rugs & carpets & cushions made me think of my travels go Turkey. I teased the traders Where is my Elemet cay ..Apple tea.. he smiled and told me these are from Iran.. we had a good coversation on the artisans of Iran and there skills in design & manufacturing.

Some of the designs had an Egyptian Heiroglypics influence I thought and also hints of Aztec..loved the colours and designs..I have found this googled link to learn more on regions, styles, weaves and materials used. Persian Master Knotters by Region

More photos..I have a favourite one too.. Lets hope one day can purchase..

So many gift ideas

My two princesses from my Family Link Up project would love this department store in Windsor Daniels Windsor this is only a glimpse.. there were so many products I would have loved to buy and send to Belgium. I was telling the staff about the brexit issue; that now when we send gifts to family & friends in the EU those loved ones get presented with a customs demand to collect the parcel.. Some of the staff were unaware of this..but saw it was inhibiting purchases to send to EU.. so trade affected. I made them aware that Lord Dubs had written to Lord Frost, the brexit minister on the matter. Particularly as it is affecting gifts to refugees ..we await a reply.

Lovely atmosphere in Windsor

I had a lovely afternoon & evening in Windsor yesterday ..such a lovely atmosphere and lovely people met. Chats from art, to trade, to Dexter the Windsor cat, to knee replacements.. then immersed in the most peaceful Evensong in St George's Chapel. So peaceful that all in attendance had difficulty leaving ... thank you Spiritual team & choir... Felt extra comforting with the Royal Standard flying which denotes that our Queen is in residence.  I have been feeling more close to Her Majesty through the book I am reading that Joanna Lumley as so beautifully written and complied with people's  memories of the Queen over the years.  A Queen for All Seasons. How the book was compiled  I read a very special chapter on the train journey to Windsor.. Portrait of a Queen.. it was recollections of those artists that have had time with the Queen sitting for their sketches & portraits. Portraits that have become part of our many images of our Queen. That chapter so cleverly put together that was like each sentence a brush stroke, each paragraph a new revelation of our Queen in her personal space. It felt very moving the way her face & expressions changed as she would observe her subjects, we the people going about our daily lives. Her view from the palace window, her wondering & concern on our lives as each passed. One artist capturing this and the light in her face & eyes full of care.

I spoke with one of the castle staff on the book, when I told her what Joanna had said on the This Morning programme...that it was a Bouquet of Memories to present to the Queen on her Platinium Jubilee... She said oh that is beautiful.

I loved what Joanna had said on the This Morning programme that the book was a Bouquet of Memories to present to the Queen.. Going to settle down to read it now and will share more.. Amazing Platinum jubilee for our Queen.

Crossing Barriers Global Link Up

🙏💗🤲So proud of Mo'men BSc MSc Nursing

نور في العالم  Light in the World

Out of adversity in life it is amazing how life paths cross to Link up as a Global family... 2014 horrendous news reports in Gaza brought a caring soul in my life studying and training to be a nurse. Me, the retired BSc RN RM with a new fledgling starting his career. Mo'men so proud of you giving this lecture on cancer care ...in a conference Together Beating Cancer Crossing Barriers with Medical Aid for Palestine  MAP

How amazing we met up on a  Social media platform..able to share my experience in Oncology nursing in a Regional Radiotherapy unit, scrubbed for radioactive implants seletron, cathetron & even iridium wires for breast cancer plus chemotherapy then on a professorial gynaecology oncology ward as a senior staff nurse. Plus all my other years nursing & practice as a midwife...

Even more amazing how my Syrian refugees came in my life and was able to link you, Mo'men in to my Family Link Up project.... even able to advise in Eleonas camp Athens with your Arabic to help understanding..yet there in Gaza....A Global Family Link Up ...

So fascinating to see many men in nursing while the women studying medicine, laboratory studies & teaching ..But my father was a male nurse.. one of the first men to go on the UK register as a qualified SRN State Registered Nurse ... he worked with Charnley who pioneered the hip replacement surgery. I am sure my father will be looking down with pride too...

Feeling blessed with all my journey over last 7 years meeting up with courageous people ...traumatised with war, conflict, abuse that rise up to not only rebuild their lives..but also  to care & help others too... same with my Syrians ...inspirational people ..lights in the world that show Love Wins....

Gratitude to Eleanor Rathbone

💜💚what an amazing Zoom evening to commemorate an amazing lady Eleanor Rathbone, Suffragette and MP who fought for women to have the right to financial help with Family Allowance paid to her, to cash,  to help with bringing up her family..1946 first introduced the sum of 5 shilling a week in today's money 25p.... but a helping hand then given a man's wage was around £6 a week not hour a week! Some would drink away most of that from their pay packet failing to pass the pub on way home... 🍺🍻 But has in this evening discussion it was highlighted women in more well to do marriages would have money controlled by her husband ....so this family allowance gave some independence & dignity..
The poverty in history is shockingly present now in the UK with food & fuel poverty.. even to the shame that the UN reporteur for poverty Philip Alston came to assess our poverty cause and needs...conclusion a direct link to the Cameron austerity policies... the present government like to hide this report under the carpet and even challenge its validity..... but since the report poverty has intensified with pandemic, furlough... So the problem cannot be hidden .... I put forward in the chat how it actually is bad housekeeping by government for there to be poverty in society as the spin off problems cost more to health service & in social issues to help. A good leader ensures all citizens have living financial dignity.... we do not all want diamond tiaras & limousines but simply life dignity with food in our bellies, roof over our heads, clothing, bills paid without need to use credit cards,...if indeed we have credit status to get credit. We also highlighted women survivors from DV left penniless by perpetrators...need help... dangerous not to help.  I have refered the attendees to my blog  Women's Voices to be heard    to see my experience & campaign for all women ... in fact in my attendance to APPG poverty meeting in portculus house parliament I remember seeing Eleanor Rathbone's portrait... We have a lot to thank Eleanor for not only getting women's votes but an MP with a strong voice for women, wives, mothers ..there is in the Hansard archive not only the transcript of her debates to the bill but a voice recording.... This evening some of the attendees on zoom acted out the debate.... felt tearful..at the amazing caring power of this strong lady ..Thank you Eleanor ..it was sweet that mothers in Liverpool used to call their family allowance "Ellie's money" 😊
Here are some links for you

I wore my suffragette sash for tonight zoom.. now a 1950's born women fighting for 6 years robbed State Pension... another women's campaign.. but thanks to Eleanor we have vote power and can get our voices heard in parliament.. The additional challenge is getting government to hear and act..

Sabah ej yasmine

Sabah el yasmine ....just spotted my Jasmine has flowered ....my daughters got this a few years ago for one of my birthdays the perfume is so so sweet and beautiful...

Jasmine is a favourite flower for Syrians... Family Link Up

In India women use Jasmine garlands in their hair to perfume and look so pretty in their sarees ...even if  poor in ruppees they enrich themselves with nature around them .. I was fasinated by the flower sellers outside Sai Baba's Ashram at Whitefield Bangalore....how they threaded flowers to make garlands..... they would always give me a rose saying Auntie Auntie take for you.. 🌹🙏🤲💖

Love in action for Richard #FreeNazanin

People power in action driven by love, care & concern for Richard in desperate pain to get the love of his life, his wife Nazinin back from captivity in Iran. The nationwide lobby of MPs brought constituency concerns from all 4 nations of the UK.. I have never seen Westminster Hall so full of MPs.. from all parties.. Tulip Siddiq, Richard's MP secured Westminster Hall for the debate to #FreeNazanin.. this intensified public lobbying action to demand and expect their MP to attend.. MPs that attended were also driven by the love that Richard has for the love of his life, his wife.. the room full of empathy.. but most of how to get effective action to free Nazanin see The Hansard Debate link and can be viewed on Parliamentary TV channel  It was poweful that Richard was in attendance. All thanks to the parliamentary staff for facilitating this and helping Tulip.

I was outside working my placard.. from all my campaigns it is amazing the support and conversations you can provoke from members of the public passing by. I was early arriving at parliament before the scheduled 14: 30hrs debate.  I checked in with the staff at the public entrance to make them aware I was outside with my placard. I am always impressed with the kindness and care our parliament staff. I miss being able to go into parliament to APPG meetings due to covid restrictions. But look what happened by arriving early ...there were other campaigns on the go ..with MPs out and about.. including my MP John McDonnell... Then Jeremy came to join us .
Then as I wandered  down to a media hang out area.... look ....look who I met. One of my favourite kindly stars  and campaigner ☆ Joanna Lumley ☆..she was presenting another campaign.. .... Joanna is a star a shining star.. I watched how she connects with people listens, cares, understands and is full of empathy, knowledge & wisdom.  When she saw my placard about Richard she gave so much love support for him. It actually was amusing watching the MPs particularly male MPs desperate to get a photo with our nations Absolutely Fabulous Bond girl star... then seeing my placard and Joanna's concern ..saying oh must dash got to attended urgent debate on this case. Hhhhh so then I had some time with Joanna to myself.. kindred spirits, travelled, care about issues in the world and campaigners together. Thank you to the Greater Power of All timing our meeting.. Kismet 💖
Look at the power of connecting with people & listening with heart..

Another example of connecting to people caught on camera with Jeremy listening and engaging with a group campaigning for Refugee Action
More photos from yesterday and scroll through to see what happened outside Downing street..
Well done to the SNP in the debate raising what I too am concerned about with the way that our government not handling negotiations to #FreeNazanin.
What does our British Citizenship mean?
What are these words on our passport?
When our own government seems politically impotent to assist & protect us.
This is scary for all of us that travel the world, work in other countries, NGOs volunteers in hot spots.. British doctors & nurses giving their expertise to communities in need of help in war torn & disaster areas.
The other point was when Nazinin was taken she was, as we all were a European British citizen. We had the double support of the UK parliament & EU parliament. That gave extra confidence when travelling if problems faced. Richard did pick up on this point I made to him before we brexited and met with Ursula von der Leyen. She would be a good negiotator. I am impressed with Ursula a mother of seven taken in a Syrian refugee too. Such a high profile political career.
Yesterday after my placard showing at Downing Street..but no sighting of the present PM.. i crossed over the road... A kindly man Julian saw the placard and held out his arms with care & concern on his face saying " Please please tell me what is happening how is Richard ..it's a heartbreaking situation.... "  I told him that MPs debating in Westminster Hall ....we had such a heart to heart talk. A genteel man,  full of care for the world, worried about the world in man made turmoil. A follower of Judaism.. I told him of my friend up North in Otley,  Marshall .. I kindly Jewish pharmacist turned herbalist healer.  I met Marshall when studying complementary holistic medicine in my nursing degree. I told Julian how I had through Marshall found out about Sathya Sai Baba a Spiritual teacher in India that brought all religions together in his teachings and Ashram. He would say each and everyone of you in your religion is saying peace love care for one another ...so why are you all fighting? Julian loved this as he feels so important to come together as a global family. We discussed how we need this maturity and how the Earth needs this too.  We cannot keep going on creating pain in the world with the trapping of deluded ego. I hope I am blessed with more meet up with Julian ..it would be spiritually powerful if all relgions came together for a prayer vigil for peace, shalom salems Om shanti.. as a Global family... it is time to mature up and be truly worthy of the title Homo Sapiens..and stop being Homo Stupidus.... for the sake of our survival on this wonderful one planet home we share... Earth ..

Gratitude for yesterday Love in Action!
