Monday at home but.....

I am well impressed with the internet and social media with livestreaming of conferences.  Today while the washing on the go was sat on my sofa taking part in this conference looking at Children in Conflict. So on a cold rainy day in West London was able to be part of this without going out.
Description
Children and adolescents bear the brunt of war and armed conflict. From Syria to South Sudan, thousands of today’s young people will be exposed to protracted crises and suffer the after-effects well beyond childhood. Children’s and adolescents’ psychosocial well-being is at great risk from exposure to violence, and the violations of their rights as a result of armed conflict can have devastating effects on their trajectory from adolescence into adulthood.

Page Turning read

Yesterday I picked up a copy of Kate Furnivall's book Betrayal in Uxbridge Waterstones and wow this is turning out to be a powerful read and real page turner.... just having some reluctant time away from it to tell you on this blog post.  I will be snuggled up this evening reading this..... Every now and again a really good story-line comes out.  But I am berating myself as it is more than time for me to get some published stories out there... Especially when I partner up with Dante my creative writing Syrian refugee....

Betrayal is a cleverly written novel by Kate Furnivall here is the synposis from the publishers Simon & Schuster UK
Paris, 1938. Twin sisters are divided by fierce loyalties and by a terrible secret. The drums of war are beating and France is poised, ready to fall. One sister is an aviatrix, the other is a socialite and they both have something to prove and something to hide.
I love facebook for being able to post messages to the author.
"WOW powerful....... you just stopped my page turning read to reflect on the imagery you create...."Moonlight had seeped through the slats of the shutters and lay across the tangled bed sheets like a row of silver ingots spread out for her to steel...." and like the powerful imagery from how those bed sheets got tangled too......made a very interesting Monday afternoon reading for a retired lady alone ... "

Garden gives back

A deary grey rainy day here in west London but spotted some beauty in my dishevelled garden... I have had ill health over the last few weeks so not able to get the garden sorted for the winter months. My knee was a big problem and then the fractured toothache and gut problems.... oh the joys of getting older - but sadly treated as a nuisance with this government.  It is incredibly hurtful after near on half a century working, paying tax and bringing up a family, seeing life in the world safely and life out with dignity that I have come to my most vulnerable years with no financial dignity. Compounded by a rogue husbands number 2 and 3... looool oh I so wish I had gone to the Zsa Zsa Gabor school of how to make money out of divorces....... I love her line "Oh Darlings I was always a good housekeeper with every divorce I kept the house!"  lool sadly I lost.... sure needed her tactic wisdom!! Anyway here I am feeling like the financial situation is sort of compacting me into an old lady and a lonely one .... well live alone... but thank God for my Family Link Up project that I can keep updated with online.  I do miss the girls and wish I could got to Belgium to see them and do a Christmas Winter Shop with Boshra and the Girls..... I would like to get Boshra some painting materials too so she can expand on her art work and maybe sell it at the local market.... So much I could do if had the financial resources..... I keep applying for paid work but get no response or a polite response saying they selected out of "strong" candidates... and the Family Link Up project I am commended on by officials in EU and UK that I write too but they say the funds that are available are only for NGOs not individual carer/befrienders.  It is driving me crazy with frustration and sometimes gets me ruminating over my life and the mistakes I made to not stop criminal perpetrators messing up my life.  This is why me and the refugees get on so well we are all traumatised souls that have lost everything to criminal perpetrators... and we need to rebuild our lives.... in the losses we have found one another and we keep one another strong with our friendship and care and the love we now have for one another over the years interacting.  You can read more on the Family Link Up project on the blog dedicated to this.....
Family Link Up  .....and how I could do with sponsors and fundraisers to help me as there is so much potential in this project to help rebuild lives and help traders around the camps and host country communities...... I have to keep positive that I will win through soon with all I would like to do before I depart this Earthly form........ in the meantime enjoy these pictures with me of the beauty on this Earth and how gardens no matter will give back for us to enjoy....
