Career pathway glimmer

My daughter and I been sorting out old boxes of memorabilia and found loads from my career as a nurse and midwife... this is some of the finds but got masses of mandatory attendance certificates... from suturing to obstetric emergencies...... amazing career pathway but could have reached higher position if life had not thrown in some very difficult personal obstacles though many I did clamber over!!
This little glimmer shows my early days in APPG groups always trying to find a voice for patients and staff in parliament, to national audits been involved in,, and trying to get a series of birthing stories on BBC Woman's hour....In the boxes found the letter to say I had passed my finals to be a midwife... and and me thesis for my BSc nursing done on a typewriter NOT lap top and microsoft word hhhh how did we manage!

The first STABLE programme I attended at St. Thomas's was brilliant on stabilising neonates after resus....that was a good course with doctors, neonatal nurses and midwives coming together.  Here is the link as the course has developed even further would not mind going on the course again but I am retired now...

Local yes Local Parrot joins in Debbie's colour challenge

Our Debbie is surrounded by colour since last Saturdays Colour Obstacle Rush challenge for Kidney Research UK.

Look what flew into the garden by her house.

One of the colony of ring necked parrots that live around West London... yes did say West London not India.

They are originally from India and the story goes that some were brought to England for a film and they escaped.. They have adapted and colonised.

I get them round by my place too - they land on trees near by that they perch on every evening. They have a good squawk and chatter then off they go. Love them and they are quite big too.
See how you can help Team Debbie

Colour Fun Run for Kidney Research UK

 Team Debbie Just Giving page
Had a fun day today with Debbie, my daughter; her hubby; Errin, my Grand daughter and Team Debbie. We have been at Windsor Race Course for the Color Obstacle Rush 5 km which Debbie Team has dedicated to raise funds for Kidney Research UK.  It is a brilliant way to raise funds.. There were other charity teams on the mission for their fund raising with colour and fun.  It reminded me of Holi the Indian colour festival where coloured powder is thrown over everyone...It has surely been a colourful day.  Here are some photos to give you a taste of the day. You can follow the link Team Debbie Just Giving Page Debbie organised this day with her team of supporters in grateful thanks to her Kidney care team that look after her and her surgeons that performed robotic kidney surgery on her one functional kidney.

Garden this evening

A selection of flowers I got today at the lovely flower stall in Uxbridge today. Just sat quiet in my garden and been reading some  verses from the Quran on the beauty of the earth. Will share and add to this post when by my laptop. I have not fathomed out how to copy and paste with this tablet as yet. Still learning! The birds are singing so well this evening. Beautiful.
Surat Al-Nahl: “He causes to grow for you thereby herbage, and the olives, and the palm trees, and the grapes, and of all the fruits; most surely there is a sign in this for a people who reflect.” [16:11]
Surat Al-Nahl: “Eat of all the fruits and walk in the ways of your lord submissively. there comes forth from within it a beverage of many colours, in which there is healing for men; most surely there is a sign in this (life of bees) for a people who reflect.” [16:69]
From the chapter or Surat dedicated to the bees. Surat Al-Nahl
Surat Al-An’am: “And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees – of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.” [6:99]
This is from the chapter or Surat named Cattle

The Birdman of Chennai

love this story - it was also on the BBC documentary series Earth from Space... you can actually see the green of the birds feeding en masse from space amidst the buildings.. We have the same species of parakeet here in West London they do come to some trusted people around the neighbourhood to feed but my cats put them off coming close to my house.... they don't half chatter and are quite cheeky so can imagine the sound of 8,000 of them....
