Turkey Tourism and Cushions Link Up

Found this in my newsfeed today from the Tourism & Art & Turkey site - so miss my travel to Turkey with Family Link Up.. was good to travel in the protective bubble of a package holiday and did Dante some good coming to the sea for some healing and counselling from all he had been through. The locals loved him and his ability to speak some Turkish and his knowledge... so was a good time of sharing.. I enjoy being out and about meeting people and sharing cultures.. Turkish people friendly, great country, loving the food and products.  Just wish I could get some business link up to help the local traders.  Tourism struggling with world economy and folk not buying as much - either no brass to spend or have but hanging on to it as not so sure of the world and what is to happen next... Just wish we could all get on as a Global Family caring and sharing and enjoying one another wares and cultures.

This was good see photo below - was able to take a present of one of the bags from Uncle Dante to his little niece Princess Leen who was then in Eleonas Camp Athens .. Lovely memories of Family Link Up in 2016.. then last year 2017 was able to return to Eleonas Camp for the birth of Princess Leen's sister Princess Celine... They are now as you know if you have been following the Family Link Up blog in Belgium.. So so hope 2018 will find the funds to be able to travel to see them in Belgium and to return to Turkey.. Love being on the move...so enriching helping to link up the family.

Brushing up on Languages

My work with the Family Link Up refugee befriending is awakening all the languages I have learnt and been exposed too over my life - should be fluent in French, Dutch, German, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish and love seeing patterns and trends in languages.  

So just finished a three week online FutureLearn course in Dutch and was looking for some Dutch magazines to read... but the local newspaper shop did not have any ... they had German instead.... then spotted a couple of good articles in Der Spiegel.... so over the last few days been translating them... 
One was on the war in Syria and the other on the similarities and differences of Christianity and Islam... Both relevant to my Family Link UP project as some family members are in Germany and I wanted to see the mood of the writing.. 
Both been amazing reads... The one on the Syrian war I have translated into English and Arabic and sent to Dante my key refugee contact who is a translator by profession and an ancient historian... so he can comment on the article and possibly write an article for the journal from his perspective and experience. 

The other on religion is very interesting as it is an interview with an Imam and Priest in Abu Dhabi were there is a Mosque been renamed by the Crown Prince to Mary mother of Jesus... to show that Mary is important to Muslims and their love of her and Jesus.... it is quite a stunning Mosque too -researched further and found this link in the Catholic News  http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/leading-articles/2017/06/16/united-arab-emirates-renames-mosque-mary-mother-of-jesus/

I will share more as I finish the article translation.  I am enjoying making up powerpoint slides on the translations and then do a target word share... see the target words in the different languages.... so good fun for me to do.. Good to keep my brain active and helping me to keep clear the language patterns. 

Over Christmas was watching the Royal Institute Christmas lectures and was perfect subject this year for me.. as Professor Sophie Scott was lecturing on language development and communication. http://www.rigb.org/christmas-lectures/2017-the-language-of-life/about-the-language-of-life

Lovely Christmas & Swedish Style

Lovely day today a great Christmas with my eldest daughter and the grandkids.... my son-in-law made a wonderful Christmas dinner... so so yummy... But felt so comfortable in the stylish dress by Gudrun - so glad I have found her designs... so whenever I can get any decent funds for clothes this is where I will be going to build up on a new wardrobe of Swedish outfits... Just need a prosperous New Year... some paid work, grants and sponsors..... and sure would like my State Pension as the 1954 born WASPI woman..... See the treasury does not have to worry about "giving" us our money we have paid in ... we will as women catch up on the shopping we have not been able to do without it....

Festive Looks

There is an #solidaritywithKarim  A twitterstorm for baby Karim that has lost an eye in airstrikes... time man evolved into peaceful beings the message of this season.... a message that does not seem to be heard by the deluded despots in the world! All around the world from the UN to refugees in camps and hospitals people are showing solidarity with Karim in the hope that the war stops... and we finally get peace and justice for all the war crimes done... a massive catalogue of crimes over the years of this horrid war.  It is lovely to see the kind care that the Turkish Red Crescent are giving Karim. Then my refugees sent photos of the children in solidarity and were awestruck that baby Ahmed had covered his eye too... Sometimes I think these children of the day are so spiritually connected.. They are of course fresh from Allah from the Divine Creator.... lets us please hope they will be able to undo all the damage that has been done by selfish greedy deluded power drunk egos in the world.  It really is time for us to hear the message of the season with our hearts.. Peace on Earth Good will to all mankind.. and that KIND is put into manKIND... 

LOOK OUT FOR HYPOTHERMIA

Rang my refugees in Turkey to check up on them and they were saying how cold they are and feeling sleepy. So put this alert out as we need to get some funds for wood for their wood burner in the house they are are using.  There is no central heating... and they could not afford if there was.  They have eaten today they tell me and little baby Ahmed is OK on my enquiry. 

Then made me think of all the homeless we have here in the UK  yes in the UK in 2017 nearing entry to 2018 and we have homeless on the winter streets, we have poverty that is like pushing us back to 1817... folk going hungry needing foodbanks, fuel poverty...

URGENT - URGENT - URGENT 

I have not had a response for the call for help as yet and winter is getting a hold now with Artic blasts and snow. 

I have need for funds to send to Dante in Turkey for winter fuel - firewood for the burners, warm clothes & blankets!

I am concerned for the elderly grandmother (Dante's mother) and young grandchild, Ahmed that are with him. 

Also needed for Boshra and the girls in Belgium warm clothes as they are feeling the North cold blast from the sea.

Tide of Change - New Dawn

🌺Today in Parliament was so loved and hugged and supported by the staff that know me and my story ... see me campaigning for my rights and the rights of others... I was upset today with some of the Tory arrogance and quite frankly lack of respect for women and elders.....no respect for the pain many of us are in ... and for me a tether to past pain and why I am now requiring my state pension for some dignity and my right after 48 yrs of paying in ..

One of the staff felt my pain and made me aware of this window in dedication of Women Suffragettes and the fight for the right of women's votes ... It is part of the Tide of Change exhibition and is call New Dawn ... The circles you see are the artistic representation of ends of the scrolls of Acts of Parliament... and the window is dynamic lights change to the tide of the River Thames "Programmed by the artist, the light levels fluctuate with the river’s ebb and flow. It builds from low tide, where only one disc is lit, to high tide, where the whole sculpture is illuminated."
