Been on a mission this afternoon ...It was time I despatch my baby clothes to babes in need ...my Eid gift, my King Charles III pledge to help community and an idea after attending the webinar on art in hospitals to make more friendly places...and Evelina children's hospital being featured... My old professional home is St Thomas's hospital where I had the privilege to practise as a midwife with some of the top class teams in the nation ...a priveleged site too being in the centre of London opposite parliament..hence familiar territory for my now trips into parliament to be a voice on domestic & international issues. Evelina is attached to St Thomas's and is a hospital designed by the children for children...lol hence in my photos you will see an Helter skelter in Out patients π Sister on Beach ward was grateful of my baby cardigans... there are neonates with cardiac problems that the teams in Evelins care for. We have a specialist team of midwives that care for mothers referred in with diagnosis of fetal cardiomyopathy and cardiac structural issues.. babes can be in theatre within hours of delivery for corrective surgery. Given that referrals can come from a wide geographical area and the cost of living crisis then many parents are struggling...so help needed. So I followed my heart to donate. Was good to hug Sister & Matron always feel fellow colleagues even though now I am retired... while there felt like putt8ng scrubs on an helping ..but my knees on the way home told me ..no more 12 hr shifts possible... π₯
