Absolutely brilliant fun day at the Dutch Centre Austin Friars London. Now we have the Elizabeth link a direct link from Hayes & Harlington to Liverpool Street Station and short walk down Old Broad Street. It was a day to celebrate Koningsdag.. Great lot of people from Dutch expats to Brits keen to expand on Dutch language use. Though we did speak English too. My friend Barry from the Anglo/Belgian Society introduced me to the Dutch Centre as he used to live in Holland. He speaks fluent Dutch and Flemmish. Through him I have learnt there is also an Anglo/Nederlandse Society too. The day was good as the food was so lekker I enjoyed the Dutch Apple pie and shared a table with three lovely Dutch women who have lived in London for 30 to 40 years.
Loved the trademark for the Dutch fries hhh The Frying Dutchman... but wowee was his fries sooooo lekker tasty, he did a roaring trade with queues all day. Plus there was a fish stall too ...
I got some cheeses to take home and some tulip chocolates for my daughters and Juliya my Ukraine friend.
Here are some more photos to share the day.
He is the vicar for the Dutch Church that is also at the Centre.. so much fun we had... and below my coronation as Queen Marjorie!!! hhh
