My 6th Decade to end ..but outstanding owed

well folks as we end 2023 I will end my 6th decade ..and will start my 7th decade on this Earthly plane .. This 6th decade put me in protest mode campaign for my lost State pension as a 1950s born woman.. We lost 6 years pension with the sudden un notified shift of retirement age from 60 to 66 ... though I now get State Pension I like the others affected would like our robbed 6 years. We took to High Court and Parliamentary ombudsman.. there is talk of compensation but it remains talk and is delayed and delayed and ... delayed .. actually quite disgraceful of government to target the daughters of those that served and survived WW2 and helped rebuilt the nation.. so the battle goes on...

Lovely to get a card and letter from Sabine my friend in Germany .. she was the tourist that fell in Regents park and I rushed to help her. We have been friends ever since. Brexit a problem now for me to send gifts to her .. There is a customs charge to receive gift declared parcels.. I will at least write back and just maybe one day can visit her. She invites me to do so.  She loves horses and owns one so I would love to see.. though I am not a rider.. but love horses .. ever since being a child. Mum & dad would take me for a walk to where horses kept in a field .. we would take carrots and sugar lumps .. We have rescue horses near where I live too .. A wonderful couple care for rescue horses. Our local safer neighbourhood police team love patrolling round and checking on the horses ..

Christmas day telly takeover lol

the GrandAdults took over the telly on Christmas day ..but it was so much fun to watch .. Gran gett8ng into the play ..

Some Yumminess

lovely gifts that I enjoyed over the past 10 days ..
And the tea bags in an hamper with tea from Nilgris plantation...well in the early 1990s I went to that plantation in India .. Ooty hill station is a place I rode up to on ..get this .. the back of a Yamaha 350 .. I must try to find the photo..when next tidying through memorabilia.

Christmas Day Message

lovely day with the family and very yummy Christmas dinner.. we appreciated being with family given all the upset in the world.  May man realise to open hearts and minds to the message of Peace on Earth Goodwill to all manKIND.  The Earth our one planet home is crying out for peace and togetherness to undo all the damage on our life support system.. Earth is the only planet that can support life. An amazingly beautiful planet with ecosystems that have evolved over eons of time to support all creation.

It really is time we had world leaders that are Mature in the Wisdom of Peace & Togetherness.  Leaders that care for ALL global citizens and ensure living dignity for all. There needs a shift in socio-economics so no one without shelter and food. We need physicists to team up with engineers to develop infrastructures to support life in harmony with ecosystems, the designs need to be able withstand extreme weather and earthquakes... we will see more of this if we do not recalibrate our behaviour.

Lets shift from division, conflict and destruction Homo Stupidus to evolve into truly being Homo Sapiens!

Shalom Salem Peace Om Shanti πŸ™πŸ€²πŸ•Š

Mentoring Across Borders

Some slides from todays Zoom meeting on Mentoring across Borders this is a project that gives value to older retirees to help younger folk develop their careers, their studies and life experiences by mentoring. It is from the Age Platform Europe and has amazing power to develop.  I am keen to help as a mentor and enjoy this stimulating idea behind the project.

Anglo/Belgian Society meet up

Tuesday evening a Christmas get together with the Anglo Belgian Society at Boyds Bar off Trafalgar Square. I enjoy time chatting to the interns of the Belgium Embassy and discussing their career plans. I become a member out of my Family Link Up project and having a Syrian family in settled in Belgium. Though sadly this year was not able to visit them with all the financial pressures of the cost of living crisis. I hope to get to visit early in the New Year for my 70th birthday and the children's birthday. We will need a collective time celebrating. I must confess though my daily Dutch learning has slipped and I need to reawaken my studies.  It as pleasing that has I heard two of the members on Tuesday chatting in Dutch that ik heb het begrepen I understood :) of course I also need to enhance my French speaking too. One of the fun things I love of going over to mainland Europe of using the European languages though I know English is also understood and used too.

Happy to Chat

Happy to Chat on Tuesday in the Pavillons Uxbridge was another success. i had great conversations with one of the students from India and his course on business administration. It always seals a rapport when I can share from my time in India and we had good talk on comparing and contrasting the two countries. Then had a time joining a discussion on the Middle East situation. This a subject that was in full flow with two gentleman and weighed heavy in my heart as I have a nurse I mentored out in Gaza with MSF. We demonstrated how we can come round a table and share views, perspectives and experiences in peace and leave one another with hugs for Shalom Salem Peace Om Shanti.

Brunel Older People Reference Group Update

Monday was a brilliant day of sharing at the Brunel Older People's Reference Group with a review of the research projects. It was good to have the Law Students give a presentation on Fuel Poverty knowing our rights and also to look financial exploitation and be aware of scams. I am so happy to have got involved with the B.O.R.G as it helps me reconnect to my love of being around students and academia.  It is so good to have young and old learning and sharing together.  Thanks also to the lovely buffet lunch too.. The Campus was looking very festive with all the Christmas trees around the corridors and it was lovely to have one of my neighbours attend with me. So uplifting.  I was able to have a talk with one of the law students on financial exploitation to highlight the plight of DV survivors and how perpetrators will financially cripple their victim.  She took the details of my other blog Women's Voices to be heard with permission to use my case to learn from and that I was willing to come along and give a talk so we could discuss this issue. Also as other attendees were bringing financial worrying situations and problems with service providers I made the group aware of the free online platform Resolver  This platform helps you coordinate your emails to companies acts as a connector, you can upload jpeg evidence and if the issue is not resolved the case is submitted to an ombudsman. The group were eager to see this platform so the students accessed it online to explore this. See how good it is to be able to learn and share together!

AI in Healthcare

this was a fascinating webinar and I managed to stay up late to attend as we in the UK were still in our today night time as the Australian webinar was in our tomorrow day time lol.  But I am now very interested in the use of AI in healthcare.. Another read round for me to do. I could see and put forward the use of the data on diagnostics in Public Health Care. As the more that AI is used in diagnostics then we will quickly identify cohorts and clusters of problems in the population to action plan for. Diseases from Climate extremes, localities, pollution, socio economic regions and other risk factors emerging.  But there is a need to ensure human eyes with experience over data and AI as we are also mind, body and spirit beings and there are times when there is a gut instinct to act on but no overt evidence. So the whole topic is complex and fascinating. I have put a link below to some additional reading I found. Plus the link to the recording of the Webinar..
