Monday was a brilliant day of sharing at the Brunel Older People's Reference Group with a review of the research projects. It was good to have the Law Students give a presentation on Fuel Poverty knowing our rights and also to look financial exploitation and be aware of scams. I am so happy to have got involved with the B.O.R.G as it helps me reconnect to my love of being around students and academia. It is so good to have young and old learning and sharing together. Thanks also to the lovely buffet lunch too.. The Campus was looking very festive with all the Christmas trees around the corridors and it was lovely to have one of my neighbours attend with me. So uplifting. I was able to have a talk with one of the law students on financial exploitation to highlight the plight of DV survivors and how perpetrators will financially cripple their victim. She took the details of my other blog Women's Voices to be heard with permission to use my case to learn from and that I was willing to come along and give a talk so we could discuss this issue. Also as other attendees were bringing financial worrying situations and problems with service providers I made the group aware of the free online platform Resolver This platform helps you coordinate your emails to companies acts as a connector, you can upload jpeg evidence and if the issue is not resolved the case is submitted to an ombudsman. The group were eager to see this platform so the students accessed it online to explore this. See how good it is to be able to learn and share together!
