Woman Stands Shining

Weyakapa Najin Win - Woman Stands Shining
Today dipped into the Trauma Skills Summit today Register here    and so glad I listened in to Pat McCabe and her exploration of A Traumatized Species: Pathology or Healing Crisis. Pat is from the Navajo culture and is a woman of wisdom as I listened to her.  I have always felt drawn to the American Indians and their beautiful way of listening to Mother Earth and the Divine Spirit. Her presentation is one I feel we all need to listen too as we all try to handle this crazy year with Pandemic lockdown.  But as Pat highlights was "Queen Corona" a way of getting us all to listen and see what we have been doing to our planet.  We all saw that when we were in lockdown how nature and mother Earth began to heal from all the damage our way of life has caused.

I am sure you all like me in this year have found that tears have been flowing. Times when you are feeling confused, feeling frustrated, feeling out of control by it all, feeling loneliness away from loved ones and some lost loved ones in this challenging time. So I felt touched with what Pat said that she too had tears flowing, tears coming from deep in the soul... She talked of catching those tears in tissues and to give back to the Earth in a ceremony of gratitude and guidance.  That we must know that it is alright to cry as this is in alignment with all that is going on around us.

She spoke of how in her native ways healing comes from recognising the root of pain and disease with this healing the root not healing symptoms.

I am touched with the clear point and what makes me a biologist first and foremost that then went on to be a clinician.  That Mother Earth is always giving life no matter how crazy we are with the planet.. She is a tough mama and will always show her authority and show how she gives and supports life in abundance.

Pat then guided us through a very beautiful meditation where we were taken along a path through a meadow to a mountain where we were led to a waterfall and a spirit guide.. The waterfall full of light and glistening rainbow colours.. this is where you take your own journey for what is needed for you.
My journey saw the water leading to a river and out to the sea... The entry into the water was peaceful.... I actually had to lay and sleep when I finished this presentation with meditation and just simply BE drifting alone but not alone visiting all the family my loved ones....

This wise woman's presentation covered these points:-

How indigenous peoples' paradigms express humanity in ways that are radically different from the modern world's paradigm

The modern paradigm as only one choice among many possibilities

Our innate design for a thriving life - and how this is inhibited by the modern day paradigm

Meeting the Woman of the Rainbow Waterfall - practice of receiving unconditional love and healing.

Here is this link to Pat's website Woman Stands Shining    and please visit the link to a very beautiful talk on Speaking to the Water she makes a valid point that our water on Mother Earth is the same water that supported our ancestors as it is cyclic.  There is a beautiful prayer ritual that the Navajo Dine do standing in the water of a lake and with a drum beat out prayers for us all and the planet.. knowing that the vibration of that prayer evaporates with the surface water is carried in the air forms clouds and rains elsewhere on the planet .. it is form of Divine connection.

Voice shock

Been busy all day but not used my voice till I left a voicemail for a dear friend then it came out all gobbledegook .. and was a shock to hear my voice after being quiet all day working through my keyboard... yea been marketing, been listening in to webinars and blogging and using messenger but not used my voice till that moment of voicemail.... in this lockdown spending most of the time alone at home.... been pottering in my garden and taking care of myself making meals... but not spoken out aloud... bizarre year all round...

Time to have a go at going out into London to see what it is like I think! We are getting confused messages to take care yet all being played down with a call for kids back to school as if the risk now is negligible but will it be neglectful to go back to normal mixing??? !!!
Found this lovely artwork on voice from a sweet artist website that makes art out of sound waves... Voice Art

Speaker therapist impressing me Trauma Summit

I have been taking a scan journey through the Trauma Skills Summit webinars. Find out more and Register Here is one of the speakers that I felt connected with given I have been on a traumatic life journey too.
Rob Fisher  on Day 3 His session in the summit covered
1. Discovering the similarities between relationship trauma and PTSD...
(this is something I have been trying to get our UK gov to recognise as we support DV survivors on their journey of healing.  see my Women's Voices to be heard blog The flashbacks listed in Rob's slide are not to be under estimated and can be triggered by drops in financial support that leave you vulnerable and remind you why you are in this point of time needing support!
2. Exploring the causes of relationship trauma, both developmentally and from shock.
3. Learning how to repair relationship ruptures that can lead to traumatic reactions.
4. Preventing relationship trauma by understanding the tender places in your own relationships.

" Love is a temporary insanity cured by marriage!" my thoughts: ok this is a fun quote but a sad quote many of us enter marriage out of love and wish to be life partners. But for some it can backfire into a disaster!

Rob speaks of Relationship Shock Trauma and Relationship Attachment Trauma.
Take a look at his website as I love the poem that is on the Bio Page   for Rob

Trauma & healing a Good Summit of webinars

I signed up for the week summit on trauma skills looking at how to heal the mind from traumatic experiences. The Summit was daily webinars online but only been able to sit this afternoon to watch and learn.. Learn I have on the Day 1 looking forward to the rest of the summit. Register

Today I heard about Doctor Daniel Siegal on his work of the Wheel of Awareness. A trauma recovery tool for well being... A very good narrator and presenter. You will find his publications on his website  and be able to join the growing community as we all feel the need to recalibrate our minds in this pandemic year.

The presentation covered these points:

How the nature of reality energy and quantum laws can effect our healing potentially.

Consciousness as a multifaceted integration of mind, body sensory experiences and relationship.

Understanding how to use the Wheel of Awareness as a tool for working with trauma.

The importance of moving out of plateau state of consciousness into planes of possibility.

I was touched by his realisation that the Planet is our body an integration of we and me and how we can feel one another.  This really makes sense since we are all part of the universal energy.  He speaks of the "hub" that inner part of us that is connected to the wider universe. He noted that those that have experience this part in meditation speak of a peace a feeling of timelessness and simply being. Given this is the core hub in each one of us then you can see that the frame around us the sensory system and our muscles and bones our body is surrounding this hub..

I nearly typed hug instead of hub then but it made me think that we can reach a part of us that hugs us with love from the inside out...

I would like to explore more of this summit with all its speakers.... Strange home alone all day but some amazing zooms and webinars brought to me through this internet.

Lovely Saturday morning shopping

Lovely Saturday morning shop on our local parade ...beautiful Gentian plant from Zoe Florist and some coop groceries plus yummy fresh Portuguese cakes from Paula's cafe ...weekend sorted .... had lovely chinwag (talk) with locals and one of my elderly friends called round to see me.... we both like knitting & embroidery. She was also telling me about her large Koi fish in her garden pond how in heatwave they were jumping out of the water ...when she took a water sample to local aquarium it was low on minerals & oxygen . So now that corrected they have stopped behaving like salmon jumping upstream and now all calm & contented again...lol
Reading up on the Gentian plant rather interesting
Gentian likes the spot with full sun to partial shade. The plant does have special requirements with regard to the soil. Moisture-retaining, somewhat poor soil is important, since that’s what the plant has in the mountains where it grows.

Zoom meeting on Housing with John McDonnell MP

How can we transform the housing system so that everyone has access to a secure, decent and affordable home?

This meeting was also streamed live on facebook and can be seen on the Claim the Future timeline...it was well structured with input on political issues by Andrew Fisher and highlighting how socialism stands up for the oppressed challenging the oppressor. The meeting had in the day found out that pressure on government to extend the period of grace to stop evictions had been extended.

We had a speaker on the Acorn Union  a community based union of tenants, workers and residents

Liz Davies gave a good talk on the legalities of eviction for tenants.. and that even with a government of 80 majority there can be pressure to exert change in law to protect tenants.  She highlighted that a 1/4 million renters were now in arrears due to the lockdown.

We had two tenants give their stories and their activism through the London Renters Union... it was a very emotional time for us all listening to their storie..

Home should be a safe place to thrive not just survive and ill thought out policies should not be making citizens ill...!!

Also look at my bloglinks on Medact and the collective medical campaign to stop evictions on public health grounds in pandemic. Plus also the work of the late Rev Paul Nicholson and his housing bill to eliminate homelessnes. Deans Yard Meeting Dec 2019 this also as a link to the youtube recording of the whole meeting of that day.

Medact joins pressure to stop evictions

The eviction ban is set to be extended until 20th September.

Our collective call from the health community standing alongside tenants unions forced a u-turn from the government on evictions, but we want assurance from the government that no one is made homeless if they lose their income during this pandemic.

This u-turn is a sticking plaster solution to a chronic condition.

You can read the full letter we sent to the government: https://www.medact.org/2020/actions/sign-ons/mitigating-public-health-risk-from-evictions/

My Thoughts

Realistically the period needs to be a year or more while those that lost jobs refashion skills to new opportunities..this needs support for tenants, landlords, local councils. The DWP benefit payments need to be paid in advance not in arrears. Arrears that simply transfer to tenant and landlord causing financial stress. Arrears from failed policies should NOT be placed on those in need of the support.... what spent on bailiffs and chasing system failure debts would be better streamlined to those in the need to keep a roof over their heads. Those managing mortgages to buy homes also need help to keep homes too. We do not want a repeat of Maggie's recession in late 80s!!!!!! For compassion and public health needs in pandemic we need a strong and stable support...remember not lost money it circulates back to treasury! £s should be like RBC circulating to give vital financial oxygen to each family cell..

Zooming Success

Another good zoom meeting yesterday evening..love the presentation on SUCCESS that Dennis & Karolien talked us through. We looked at what success means to each of us..there was an array of responses from achieving a goal in education, to building a business, to helping others blossom to getting our voices heard to be able to influence positive change for the better. Interesting no one said flashy cars & mega money! Inspiring look at the factors and criteria to achieve success..with this the importance of building a team to move together towards success.
London Success Thursday meetings are open to all nationally and internationally not just those in London... all ages from youth with great ideas to retired that can share together.
In this crazy year it is good to network and look at how we can recover & recalibrate our lives. The pandemic has resulted in job losses but as we were sharing during the evening I realised that means we have a pool of skills, knowledge & experience within those now redundant... we can help to reform, refashion and look at new ways to succeed & create new opportunities together
So zoom on

Some links to others
Touch Media Dhaval Valand is the success driven producer to contact he was impressive in the evening sharing.
The CV Space Deirdre Silver impressed me with her obvious link to the job markets and how to be sure your value is seen in your CV presentation.

We were talking about online the platforms that are developing not only in response to the pandemic; but out of a need to be mindful of climate change and the impact of travel to meetings & conferences. In fact there is the ability to reach more attendees and create more defined networking of companies, clients and contacts. So I was told about this one Hopin conferences can have workshop choices, main speakers, exhibition area of companies and the ability to connect and book chat or formal appointments with other participants..

Whilst we have all fallen into a challenging year 2020 we are building up with new innovative ways to connect and do business together. The power of adaptation!

The Ancient Art of Belly Dance For Labor

Blogging about belly dancing as yesterday in the International Women's Zoom group we were talking and learning about belly dancing among loads of topics.  One of our Brazilian members is a keen belly dancing and watching her is extremely good.. But all were fascinated when as a retired midwife I shared how belly dancing is an ancient way women coped with labour and were able to help work with the power of contractions and ease baby into a good position to negotiate the birth canal.... So found this film on youtube that is also making women aware to the coping tool of belly dancing... We had a laugh too as usually used to entertain the menfolk which then leads to the making of a baby!! lol

Quiet tapestry time

Much need quiet time on my lockdown 2020 tapestry ..the gold thread embellishment adding a beautiful touch ..quite symbolic of the periods of light shining in the craziness of this year..new friends made new talents & skills found ....my major gain from this pandemic lockdown is the awesome potential of zoom...in a networking meeting this evening..

Wednesday a Zoom day

Wednesday afternoon I join a Zoom meeting Women Together Workshop a time of sharing & caring learning & empowering women from all around the world.  We have a number of women that have settled here in London and are building on English as a second language... But among us we have ten different languages so can have fun learning words and sentences from all the languages ... and sharing recipes, art, poetry, books. music and culture from our various motherlands. This week we were all struggling with the heatwave and growing thunderstorm pressure so had fun making fans to keep cool.  But I made them aware of the secret messages of holding a fan in the Victorian days...which was a laugh as we began to think this was like texting hhhh as you fancied a man from across the ballroom in your ball gown... I have found this article in Sothebys The Secret Language of Fans now will your reply be a resting on your left or right cheek... lol

Then in the evening I attended a Medact zoom on Freedom of Information which was fascinating! Some good interactive work in break out rooms too. Zoom on learning and sharing together!

Artists zoom discussion & more Foxy tricks

Zoom on Tuesday with Artist Discussion

I met the artist book illustrator last night on zoom, Michelle Breen ..she is so talented and interesting She is from Up North
The Artist Discussion group started in Wigan Lancashire but now with lockdown zooming they are a growing international group..Future event Another artist that was intriguing me was from Cross Street Arts looking at being a woman and motherhood. I am looking forward to more time with the group and learning more on not only their artwork but their drive, proactivity and networking.
I was able to show Bushra's art work and seek advice on how to help market her work.  One of the artist as a gallery in Leeds and this seems the best to gain gallery space both here in UK and Europe for top class prints and originals to sell. We need to get on to online sites too.. Family Link Up Bushras Art Gallery page
Now to the shoe picture from the evening!!!
Shoe chewed see how So whats happened to the strap on your NEW shoes Marjorie...do you have a puppy ...NO a naughty over bold FOX 🦊 that came in while I was on zoom in the kitchen...I had been in the garden and forgot to close the door....it took left foot blue one and this left foot black one ..I heard a noise and suddenly realised had been thieved ...the fox was sat in the front chewing the black strap and the blue one abandoned on the lawn ...its leather so I think its eaten the strap !! I managed to zoom him to the group of artists I was with .....a group started in Wigan but now extends to Boston Massachusetts and Oman ...I showed my shoe they could not believe Foxes do this..I told them they are an International gang as reports of Foxes taking shoes from Leeds to Berlin and even in Japan ...police had done a stake out to find who was stealing 100s of shoes ..it was 2 foxes...
Overall been an entertaining zoom with one artist husband cooking supper in the background half naked and an artists that works with labia love your labia..... as a midwife I cannot be shocked...but so upset at my Fox with shoe fetish ... hhhh
