Webinar Lord Crisp series on health

Yesterday was the webinar from the series that Lord Nigel Crisp as put together from his book Health is Made at Home - hospitals are for repairs.  This webinar was looking at Building a healthy and health creating society - through Design and the Environment.  I joined in the webinar just as there was talk on gardens for therapy. That in lockdown many have found the garden a source of coping and mental health support.  The was talk that in the hospitals it is necessary to have garden space for both patients and for staff too.   The term was Placemaking and this is a place to BE... The recording of the webinar will be available soon.
Link to recording  just in!
But points I had drawn from the speakers are

Community Health absolutely depends on the health of the planet... so we have to address the issues of climate change and damage to the planet with a need to change behaviour.

That language used strongly influences the way we react and behave Muir was an interesting speaker on this with our attitudes to old age.  The choice of words can influence how we become aged and our whole persona changed.

The shift from office to home for working in the lockdown opens up the need to design homes to fit for work as well as have private space to live in. The whole ergonomics of housing to change in adaptation.

There is a need for an emphasis on local-ness with local authorities and communities  design to fit the changes.

We have seen cities turned inside out in the lock down and how with working from home local business in the suburbs are thriving but ones in the cities that depended on large scale office workers footfall are barely surviving..

I have been made aware of the National Garden Scheme and will put more on this in the next blog post.
